Financial model review & reconstruction

A model you can
interrogate with confidence.

When a model already exists, the next step is often to understand whether it works, where it breaks and how to make it useful again.

When this is useful

For CFOs, investors, founders and finance teams working with an inherited spreadsheet, a funding model, an investment analysis or a forecast that no longer reconciles.

What the work can include

  • A findings schedule identifying calculation, linkage and structural issues.
  • A review of assumptions and their connection to revenue, costs, working capital and financing.
  • Checks of scenario switches, sensitivities and the relationship between profit, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Prioritised recommendations, with corrections or reconstruction where agreed.
  • A walkthrough of the findings and the limitations that still need attention.

Practical questions

Before the engagement.

Can you review a model built by someone else?

Yes. The work can begin with a model created by a founder, consultant or internal finance team. We first establish the model’s purpose, intended outputs and the areas that need attention.

Does the review cover assumptions as well as formulas?

Yes. Formula checks are only part of the work. The agreed review can also cover revenue drivers, cost assumptions, collection and payment timing, scenarios and the way the outputs support a decision.

What is the difference between a model review and a statutory audit?

A financial model review checks a spreadsheet’s logic, assumptions and usability within an agreed scope. It is distinct from a statutory financial-statement audit or assurance opinion.

Can you implement the corrections?

Corrections, improvements or a complete rebuild can be included in the scope. The findings, priorities and review rounds are agreed before work begins.

Let’s start with the work you need.

Share a little about your organisation, the accounting issue or decision ahead, and your timeline. We can agree the right scope before work begins.
